CORONATION (POLICE) MEDAL 1902


Date Instituted: 1902.

Description: The obverse of this medal bears the bust of King Edward VII while there are five different reverses for 'METROPOLITAN POLICE', 'CITY OF LONDON POLICE', 'LONDON COUNTY COUNCIL METROPOLITAN FIRE BRIGADE', 'ST JOHN AMBULANCE BRIGADE' and 'POLICE AMBULANCE SERVICE'. All reverses bear the inscription 'CORONATION OF HIS MAJESTY KING EDWARD VII 1902'. The suspender is plain and straight with an ornate claw mount.

Metal: Silver and bronze.

Size: 36mm.

Clasps: None authorised for this medal.

Ribbon:

Naming: Impressed capital letters.

Comments: Awarded to police, ambulance and fire service personnel of the above mentioned services for their involvement in the coronation celebrations of 1902. Silver medals went to officers and bronze to other ranks.
