INDIA GENERAL SERVICE MEDAL 1936


Date Instituted: 1938.

Campaign: India 1936-39.

Description: The obverse bears the head of King George VI while reverse depicts a tiger under the word 'INDIA'. The suspender is an ornate swivelling type.

Metal: Silver.

Size: 36mm.

Clasps: 'NORTH WEST FRONTIER 1936-37' and 'NORTH WEST FRONTIER 1937-39.

Ribbon:

Naming: Impressed capital letters.

Comments: This was the fifth and last in the series of India general service medals. It was struck at the London Mint for British recipients and the Clacutta Mint for Indian troops.
