NATO Maintenance and Supply Agency (NAMSA)

Naming: Issued un-named.

Comments: Nine issues of this medal now exist for personnel who have served in NATO led operations in the Former Yugoslavia, Kossovo, Macedonia, the Balkans and those in support of operations Eagle Assist and Active Endeavour as well as personnel serving in ISAF and the NATO Training Mission in Iraq. The qualification period for this medal is normally 30 days within the NATO command area and initially bronze numerals were worn to donate multiple tours of duty. Numerals however can no longer be worn by British recipients.

The Former Yugoslavia, Kossovo and Macedonia medals were approved for wear by British troops but have since been replaced by the Non-Article 5 medal and are no longer awarded. Recipients of any of these first 3 NATO medals cannot be awarded the Non-Article 5 medal but those not in receipt of these can accept and wear the Non-Article 5 medal.

The Article 5 medal for Eagle Assist can be accepted by British personnel but not worn. Article 5 medals awarded for service with ISAF can likewise be accepted but no decision has yet been made as to whether it can be worn by British personnel.

The medal for Active Endeavour has not been awarded to British troops (since UK has not taken part in this operation) but has been issued to Canadian air crews.

The NAMSA Medal is awarded for distinguished service within the NATO Maintenance and Supply Agency.
