Description: The obverse of this
medal has the uncrowned head of King George VI with the inscription
'GEORGIVS VI D: G: BR OMN: REX F: D: IND IMP:' while the reverse
bears the inscription 'FOR SERVICE TO NEW ZEALAND 1939-45' with
a small fern below. The suspender is unique taking the form
of two fern leaves forming a 'V' shape.
Metal: Cupro-nickel.

Comments: Awarded to all members of the New Zealand armed forces for one months'
service full-time or six months part-time between September 1939
and September 1945. Those killed or wounded in action or taken prisoner
of war were automatically entitled to this medal regardless of length
of service.
