QUEEN'S CHAMPION SHOT MEDAL (ROYAL AIR FORCE)


Date Instituted: 1953.

Description: The obverse of this medal bears the head of Queen Elizabeth II while the reverse has the figure of Hermes kneeling on a flying hawk holding a javelin in his right hand and a caduceus in his left. Around Hermes is the inscription 'THE QUEEN'S MEDAL FOR CHAMPION SHOT OF THE AIR FORCES'. The ribbon is attached via a straight type suspender.

Metal: Silver.

Size: 36mm.

Bars: This medal is awarded with a bar bearing the year of the award.

Ribbon:

Naming: Engraved capital letters.

Comments: Awarded annually to the champion of the Royal Air Force markmanship contest.
