Description: The obverse bears the head of the reigning monarch while
the reverse depicts the RAF eagle below a royal crown surrounded
by the inscription 'FOR LONG SERVICE AND GOOD CONDUCT'.
Metal: Silver but later issues are silver-plated.
Size: 36mm.
Bars: Bars were authorised for additional periods of service
in 1944.

capital letters.
Comments: Awarded to NCOs and other ranks for 18 years service but
this was reduced to 15 years in 1977. Officers who completed 12
of the required 15 years service in the ranks were made eligible
for this medal in 1947. |
