ROYAL NAVAL AUXILIARY SERVICE LONG SERVICE MEDAL


Date Instituted: 1965.

Description: The obverse of this medal bears the head of Queen Elizabeth II while the reverse has an anchor within an oak wreath surmounted by the naval crown with the inscription 'ROYAL NAVAL AUXILIARY SERVICE LONG SERVICE'.

Metal: Cupro-nickel.

Size: 36mm.

Bars: None authorised for this medal .

Ribbon:

Naming: Impressed capital letters.

Comments: Awarded for 12 years service in the Royal Naval Auxiliary Service which was previously known as the Royal Naval Minewatching Service.

This was the last medal to be issued with a silk ribbon with other modern medals being issued with ribbons made of man made fibres.
