SOUTH VIETNAM CAMPAIGN MEDAL


Date Instituted: 1964.

Campaign: Vietnam War 1964-72.

Description: Six pointed star with golden rays between the points with a map of Vietnam engulfed in flames in the centre.

Metal: Bronze.

Size: 42mm wide and 36mm high.

Clasps: '1960' and '1965'.

Ribbon:

Naming: Those made in Vietnam were issued un-named but when production was passed to Australia the recipients name was impressed on the reverse.

Comments: Awarded to Australian and New Zealand personnel for six months or more service in Vietnam. Locally produced versions of this award were rather crude so production was moved to Australia where a better quality star was produced.
