Comments: Awarded for nine years unpaid service in the Special Constabulary
with more than 50 duties per annum. During both
WW1 and WW2 service counted as triple time due to the almost full-time
nature officers had to give to the role. Therefore only three years
was required to earn the award during the World Wars.
In addition to the description above two
further varients of this medal exist for the reign of Queen Elizabeth
II. The first has the inscription on the reverse 'FOR FAITHFUL SERVICE
IN THE ULSTER SPECIAL CONSTABULARY' while the second reads 'FOR
FAITHFUL SERVICE IN THE RUC RESERVE'. Both these varients required
15 years service instead of the normal 9 years and are somewhat
scarce.
