ULSTER DEFENCE REGIMENT MEDAL


Date Instituted: 1982.

Description: The obverse of this medal bears the head of Queen Elizabeth II while the reverse has the Irish crowned harp motif with the inscription 'ULSTER DEFENCE REGIMENT'. The suspender is made of laurel wreaths across which is a bar bearing the initials of the regiment.

Metal: Silver.

Size: 36mm.

Bars: A bar is awarded for additional 6 years service.

Ribbon:

Naming: Impressed capital letters.

Comments: Awarded for 12 years service in the Ulster Defence Regiment. This medal was later replaced by the Northern Ireland Home Service Medal.
