Description: This medal was struck
by the United Nations in bronze and was awarded to all allied personnel
who served for a minimum of 24 hours in or around the theatre of
the Korean War from 1950 to 1954. The obverse depicts the
emblem of the UN being a globe within a wreath while the reverse
bears the inscription 'FOR SERVICE IN DEFENCE OF THE PRINCIPLES
OF THE CHARTER OF THE UNITED NATIONS'. The suspender is fixed
and integrated with the clasp.

Comments: The inscription on the
reverse is written in the language of the recipient's country.
Those issued to British personnel are often awarded with the Queen's
Korea Medal but many who were eligible for the UN medal did not
receive the Queen's whose award criteria was more strict.
