Description: The obverse of the medal depicts the globe emblem of the
UN while the reverse bears the inscription 'IN THE SERVICE OF PEACE'.
Metal: Bronze.
Size: 35mm.
Clasps: 'CONGO', 'UNGOMAP', 'OSGAP', UNSMIH', 'MINUGUA', 'UNCRO',
'ONUNMOZ' and 'UNSOM'.
Ribbon: Many different ribbons exist for the various UN led operations.

Comments: Two types of strikings of this medal are known. The first has a
somewhat flat globe being issued to European personnel (including
UK) while the US version has a more raised globe.
Eligibility
for the medal is normally 90 days service within the operational
area for which the medal is awarded but some missions require 180 days. Subsequent
six month tours of duty within the same mission are indicated by
silver numerals on the ribbon.

United Nations Force in Cyprus (1964-Present);

United Nations Protection Force (1992-95) operating in the Former
Yugoslavia;

United Nations Preventative Deployment in Yugoslavia;

UNMIBH:
United Nations Mission in Bosnia Herzegovina (1995);

UNMIK:
United Nations Mission in Kossovo (1999-Present).
