VOLUNTEER FORCE LONG SERVICE AND GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL


Date Instituted: 1894.

Description: The obverse of this medal bears the head of the reigning monarch while the reverse has the inscription 'FOR LONG SERVICE IN THE VOLUNTEER FORCE' upon a ribbon with laurel wreaths in the background. The swivelling suspender is plain and straight.

Metal: Silver.

Size: 36mm.

Bars: None authorised for this medal.

Ribbon:

Naming: Issued un-named or engraved or impressed in capital letters.

Comments: Awarded to NCO's and enlisted men of the Volunteer Force with officers being eligible if they had served in the ranks before being commissioned. The medal was replaced by the Territorial Force Efficiency Medal in 1908.
